3D Inspection: CAD vs 3D Print

3D Inspection: A Case Study

One great use for Polyga’s 3D scanners is in their inspection abilities.

A scenario: you’ve 3D printed a part from a CAD model. It looks great! But the tolerances you are working with are tight, and you are not sure if the print matches the CAD model’s dimensions perfectly. You need to know what sort of deviations have occurred between CAD and real life model.

Below is a case study of what can be accomplished with the Polyga Compact 210 and a sample 3D printed guitar stand as a reference model for inspection scanning. We do a full scan and comparison analysis against the original CAD model, and list the results.

Software used in this report: FlexScan 3D and Gom Inspect.
