ROBOT MAINTENANCE & REPAIR

Sometimes in the middle of a production run, you realize that a robot is running too quickly, or a gripper is not holding onto your product tightly enough to keep it secure at high speed. In either case, TPK has the task of performing these fine-tuning type adjustments on our clients’ equipment.

This past week we performed just such maintenance on a distribution center robotic arm for a client. The gripper did not hold the product tightly enough as the arm swung around into position, so our controls engineers slowed down the process by a few percentage points. The fix turned out to be just enough to keep the product in the gripper like it was supposed to, while letting the arm run at nearly full speed.

Nerd Report: for those who are interested, the arm shown here is built using components from the FANUC robotics company.
